Fraser Point Bald Eagle Webcam – Santa Cruz Island
Fraser Point Bald Eagle Nest Webcam – Santa Cruz Island
The Fraser Point Bald Eagle Nest Webcam provides a live look at a wild bald eagle nest on Santa Cruz Island in California’s Channel Islands. Located near Fraser Point on the western end of Santa Cruz Island, this wildlife camera offers an extraordinary opportunity to watch bald eagles court, nest, incubate eggs, raise eaglets, and interact in their natural island habitat.
The Fraser Point nest is part of the remarkable recovery of bald eagles in the Channel Islands. After disappearing as a breeding species from the islands during the 20th century, bald eagles have successfully returned and once again raise young on Santa Cruz Island and elsewhere in the archipelago.
Watch the Fraser Point Bald Eagles Live
Activity at the nest changes throughout the year. During the breeding season, viewers may see adults bringing branches and other material to the nest, mating, laying eggs, and taking turns incubating.
When eggs hatch successfully, the webcam becomes particularly fascinating. Adult eagles bring food to the nest and care for the young while the eaglets rapidly grow.
Over the following weeks, viewers may watch the chicks develop feathers, become increasingly active, practice moving their wings, and prepare for their first flights.
Eventually, successful young eagles fledge from the nest and begin exploring the surrounding island.
Watch Wild Bald Eagle Behavior
Because the Fraser Point Webcam monitors a wild nest, activity is never guaranteed. Eagles may leave for long periods, weather can affect the camera view, and nesting outcomes vary naturally from year to year.
The camera also provides glimpses of Santa Cruz Island’s rugged environment. Wind, fog, rain, sunshine, and seasonal vegetation changes become part of the view.
Other birds and wildlife may occasionally appear around the nest as well.
The Fraser Point Bald Eagle Nest Webcam is especially valuable because it allows people to observe natural eagle behavior without approaching or disturbing the birds.

About the Fraser Point Bald Eagle Nest
Fraser Point is located near the western end of Santa Cruz Island, the largest of California’s Channel Islands. The island’s rugged coastline, steep canyons, open hillsides, and surrounding Pacific waters provide excellent habitat for bald eagles.
The eagles nesting around Fraser Point are part of an extraordinary conservation success story.
Bald eagles historically nested throughout the Channel Islands, but environmental contamination contributed to their disappearance as a breeding species during the 20th century.
DDT and related contaminants entered the Southern California marine ecosystem and accumulated through the food chain. In bald eagles, these pollutants contributed to eggshell thinning and severe reproductive problems.
Eventually, breeding bald eagles disappeared from the Channel Islands.
Restoration programs helped reverse that loss. Bald eagles were reintroduced to the northern Channel Islands, and intensive conservation work supported their return. Over time, the birds began successfully reproducing without human assistance.
Today, bald eagles once again nest across portions of the Channel Islands.
Santa Cruz Island provides particularly valuable habitat. Its extensive coastline gives eagles access to marine food sources, while the island’s relatively undeveloped interior provides nesting and roosting locations.
Bald eagles are opportunistic predators and scavengers. Their diet around the Channel Islands may include fish, birds, carrion, and other available prey.
Live cameras such as the Fraser Point Bald Eagle Nest Webcam allow viewers to follow this recovered population through the entire nesting cycle.
Every successful egg, hatch, and fledgling seen on the camera represents another chapter in the return of a species that had once vanished from these islands.
