Tatoosh Range Webcam at Paradise – Mount Rainier National Park

The Tatoosh Range Webcam provides a live south-facing view from Paradise in Mount Rainier National Park, Washington. Rather than pointing toward Mount Rainier itself, this camera looks across the dramatic peaks of the Tatoosh Range, which rise immediately south of the Paradise area.

Located at approximately 5,400 feet, Paradise is one of the most visited areas of Mount Rainier National Park. The webcam provides an excellent look at current mountain visibility, snow cover, clouds, and seasonal changes across the Tatoosh Range. The National Park Service currently lists this camera as active.

Watch the Tatoosh Range from Paradise

The Tatoosh Range creates the rugged southern skyline visible from Paradise. Its sharp peaks contrast with the massive volcanic profile of Mount Rainier and make this one of the park’s classic scenic views.

Conditions can transform the scene throughout the year. Winter brings deep snow to Paradise and the surrounding mountains, while spring snow often lingers well into the warmer months. Paradise averages about 640 inches of snow annually, and snow can remain on area trails into June or even July.

Summer eventually reveals green subalpine meadows beneath the rocky peaks. Wildflowers make the Paradise area particularly spectacular during the short mountain growing season.

Fall brings cooler temperatures and the transition toward another long snowy season.

The Tatoosh Range Webcam is particularly useful because visibility at Paradise can change rapidly. Clouds may completely obscure the mountains before clearing to reveal the peaks again.

Visitors planning to hike around Paradise can use the camera for a visual look at snow coverage and visibility before arriving. Nearby trails provide views of Mount Rainier, glaciers, waterfalls, wildflower meadows, and the Tatoosh Range. The Skyline Trail and routes near Reflection Lakes and Pinnacle Peak are among the area’s popular options.

    About the Tatoosh Range

The Tatoosh Range is a rugged mountain range immediately south of Mount Rainier in Washington’s Cascade Range. Its jagged peaks form a dramatic backdrop to the Paradise area of Mount Rainier National Park and are among the most recognizable features of the park’s southern landscape.

The name Tatoosh is associated with the Chinook Jargon word for “breast,” a reference traditionally connected to the distinctive shape of the mountain peaks.

Unlike Mount Rainier, which is a massive stratovolcano, the Tatoosh Range is composed of much older rock shaped over millions of years by geologic activity, erosion, and glaciers.

Several prominent summits make up the range, including Pinnacle Peak, Castle Peak, Unicorn Peak, and Eagle Peak.

Visitors can experience the Tatoosh Range from numerous viewpoints around Paradise. Reflection Lakes and Inspiration Point along Stevens Canyon Road offer especially impressive views, while the Pinnacle Peak Trail climbs directly into the range. The National Park Service specifically recommends the Pinnacle Peak route for views of both Mount Rainier and Mount Adams.

Paradise itself sits at approximately 5,400 feet and is famous for its subalpine wildflower meadows and extraordinary snowfall. The Henry M. Jackson Memorial Visitor Center is located here, making Paradise one of the principal visitor destinations within Mount Rainier National Park.

The Tatoosh Webcam faces south from Paradise, making it essentially the reverse of the classic Paradise view toward Mount Rainier. That distinction makes this camera worth keeping as a separate page: instead of another view of Rainier, it showcases the sharp, dramatic skyline on the opposite side of Paradise.
