Live Henry’s Fork Webcam at Chester Dam
The Chester webcams provide live views above and below the Chester Dam on the Henry’s Fork of the Snake River. Operated by Fall River Electric, the cameras are part of the cooperative’s river monitoring system, which helps anglers and outdoor enthusiasts track current conditions before visiting the river.
In addition to the webcams, Fall River Electric provides river measurements including flow rate, water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity. The Chester Hydroelectric Project also includes fish screens, a fish ladder, boat launches above and below the dam, a fishing platform, and improved public access designed to protect one of Idaho’s outstanding trout fisheries.
The upper camera overlooks the impounded section above Chester Dam, while the lower camera shows the river immediately downstream where water exits the hydroelectric facility. Together they provide an excellent picture of current river conditions.
Weather & River Conditions
The Henry’s Fork changes throughout the year as irrigation demands, runoff, and reservoir management affect river flows. The webcams provide a valuable visual reference before fishing, boating, or visiting the public access areas around Chester.
Because this section is popular with anglers, the live cameras are particularly useful during spring runoff, summer fishing season, and autumn when changing weather can influence river conditions.
About Chester Dam
The Chester Hydroelectric Project is a partnership between Fall River Electric and the Fremont-Madison Irrigation District. Completed in 2014, the project added hydroelectric generation to the historic irrigation diversion dam originally constructed in the 1930s. Along with producing renewable electricity, the project significantly improved fish passage and public recreation through the construction of a fish ladder, modern fish screens, boat launches, parking, restrooms, and a handicap-accessible fishing platform.
Today, Chester Dam is both an important renewable energy facility and a popular access point for anglers enjoying the world-famous Henry’s Fork fishery.
